Sudan elects bishop
Mar 1, 2002

Khartoum

(ACNS)-The Episcopal Church of the Sudan has elected Andodo Adam Elneel as bishop of Kadugli despite earlier attempts by a dissident group to disrupt the proceedings.

Bishop-elect Elneel, is a former diocesan secretary for the Kadugli Nuba Mountains Diocese. Before the election, supporters of the previous bishop, who was dismissed last year after disregarding a series of disciplinary actions, had issued threats against senior church personnel. At 33, the new bishop becomes the youngest bishop in the Sudanese church.
