Kairos urges inquiry
staff
Oct 1, 2005

Kairos, the Canadian ecumenical justice organization, has asked the federal government to urge the Democratic Republic of the Congo to investigate the murder of a prominent Congolese human rights activist last July.

Pascal Kabungulu Kibembi was shot dead in front of his family in the early hours of July 31. Reports said three men in uniform invaded his home in Bukavu, the capital city of the South Kivu province, in eastern Congo.

Mr. Kabungulu was the executive director of Héritiers de la Justice, a partner organization of Kairos, of which the Anglican Church of Canada is a member.
