Susie Henderson, who began at age 15 as a volunteer for the Primate’s Fund, announced her resignation from the church’s development organization to spend more time with her one-year-old daughter, Isabella.

Susie Henderson has announced her departure as co-ordinator for parish and diocesan partnerships of the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF).

Ms. Henderson, 40, who has had a long relationship with PWRDF (starting out as a volunteer at age 15, before joining its staff in 1995 following a five-year stint with the national church's youth ministry program), said she wants to devote more time to her one-year-old daughter, Isabella. "My partner Jennifer (Henry) and I are really making a decision to balance work and home," she said in an interview. "It's not about wanting to leave PWRDF, it's about wanting to be at home more."

Ms. Henderson will, however, work on a part-time contract as PWRDF's home-based Web site manager.

She tried to allay fears that PWRDF's work will be hampered by the fact that she becomes the third senior staff to leave the organization in recent months. Executive director Andrew Ignatieff left in December 2004, while Rob Shropshire, development team co-ordinator, left in March 2004.

"It's been a series of unfortunate coincidences, but I'm hopeful that PWRDF will move into a time of rebuilding," she said.
