New Moosonee dean

Bishop Caleb Lawrence, of the diocese of Moosonee, announced recently that Canon Sharon Murdoch had been appointed rector of St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Timmins, Ont. and dean of the diocese, which includes northern Ontario and part of Quebec.
The appointment took effect Sept. 1. She is the third female priest appointed a cathedral dean in the Canadian church.
Until recently, Ms. Murdoch was rector of Holy Trinity Parish in Cochrane, Ont. Ms. Murdoch received her theological education at Wycliffe College, Toronto. Ordained deacon in 1992 and priest in 1993, Ms. Murdoch has served her entire ordained ministry in the diocese of Moosonee. She is fluently trilingual in English, French and Spanish.
