Some experienced General Synod attendees enjoy seeing old friends from the last gathering, but many of this year’s youth delegates met each other long before Synod – through the online network Facebook.

Algoma youth delegate Charles Wilson found out about the Facebook-Synod link via a posting on the Web site for the Anglican youth program Ask and Imagine. “We’ve been discussing the issues, the primatial election and so on,” he said. Katie-Scarlett MacGillivray, a youth delegate from Huron, found the Facebook link helpful in overcoming first-timer nervousness. “It was so open and refreshing,” she said. “These people are just like me.”
