Sep 1, 2005
Marites N. Sison
Cheryl Curtis is no stranger to the non-profit sector.

The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund's (PWRDF) board of directors said it has appointed Cheryl Curtis as the fund's executive director, effective Sept. 19.

"An experienced leader and manager, Cheryl draws on strong experience in organizational development, supervision and teambuilding in accepting this new challenge," said Sheila Ritson-Bennett, board president, in a statement announcing the appointment. "A skilled facilitator and informed educator, Cheryl is committed to education for transformation and is a valuable resource to both our partners and our constituency in Canada."

Ms. Ritson-Bennett also described Ms. Curtis as a "faithful ecumenist and interfaith ally, who will bring "a depth and breadth to our organizational relationships."

Ms. Curtis most recently worked at the United Church of Canada as conference minister, and held the social justice/Christian development as well as the social justice/ethnic ministries portfolios. She also served as executive director of the Working Group on Refugee Resettlement.
