Week for unity celebrates church growth
staff
Jan 1, 2005

"Our Foundation is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:1-23) is the theme for this year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which is scheduled for Jan. 18 to 25 (though churches are encouraged to mark the event whenever it is possible).

"The situation in which the theme was developed is marked by new possibilities for church growth," particularly in Slovakia, according to an introduction to the theme prepared by the World Council of Churches (WCC).

The eight days of prayer are "an invitation to reflect together as different churches, to ask a blessing for each other and to see where we can grow together in unity," said the WCC.
