Laura Smith

Artist Laura Smith reinterprets the Nativity story in her work entitled “...and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes.” She comments that Jesus is with us now, in the lives of the poor, the marginalized: “Holding up the unnamed homeless as martyrs (perhaps saints, and therefore, icons) to our failure as a society and as individual Christians is a reminder to me to look for, and respond to, Christ in all faces.”
