Burton on ballot

Anthony Burton, bishop of the diocese of Saskatchewan, is one of five candidates in the election of a bishop for the diocese of San Diego in the Episcopal Church of the United States.

Bishop Burton is on a slate of five candidates, according to the San Diego diocesan Web site. The election is set for Nov. 13.

Bishop Burton, who is 45, is the youngest prelate in the Anglican Church of Canada.

Ordained in the diocese of Nova Scotia, he served two parishes in Cape Breton before moving to Prince Albert, Sask., to become the dean of St. Alban's Cathedral. He is a well-known conservative in the church.
