Archbishop Michael Peers (seated) stepped down as primate of the Anglican Church of Canada on Feb. 1. He signed his official resignation while on retreat at the Society of St. John the Evangelist, a religious community in Cambridge, Mass., where the primate went on retreat twice a year during his primacy.
