Alexandria, Va. Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va., and the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church have agreed to establish an African American Historical Collection at the seminary's Bishop Payne Library. The collection will include oral histories, documents, institutional records and photographs that chronicle the lives and experiences of African American Episcopalians. The library will build additional archival space in the summer of 2003 to accommodate the collection. Materials will be available for scholarly research and for the education of the wider church.
