An exhibit of photographs from Indian residential schools called Where Are The Children? Healing the Legacy of the Residential Schools is on display at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa through Feb. 3, 2003.

Drawn from private collections and from the four churches that managed various schools, the exhibit outlines the dimensions of the boarding school system, addresses the question of whether assimilation as native policy was a good idea and ends on a note of hope with photographs of school graduates who have reached significant levels of accomplishment.

A travelling version of the exhibit is on display at the University of British Columbia's Anthropology Museum in Vancouver until Jan. 31, 2003. The exhibit will also be at the Wanaskiwen Heritage Park Authority in Saskatoon from Feb. 14 to May 14, 2003.
