The diocese of Ontario had several AIDS-related events scheduled for September. Stephen Lewis, the United Nations Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, was set to speak on Sept. 24 at St. George’s Cathedral in Kingston, Ont. His evening talk was sold out, so Mr. Lewis agreed to add an afternoon session. Organizers were aiming to raise $20,000 to benefit Mr. Lewis’ foundation and the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. AIDS walks also took place in Kingston and Belleville, Ont., to assist those living with HIV/AIDS in location communities.  St. Thomas Reddendale and St. Marks, Barriefield set a walkathon for the 10 kilometres between the two churches for Oct. 1 to benefit the Primate’s Fund.
