November 19, 2007 Bequest expected to buoy national church budget

The Council of General Synod (CoGS) on Nov. 18 approved a budget for 2008 that anticipates revenues of $8.9 million and expenditures of $10.2 million. A bequest of $4 million that General Synod expects to receive on Jan. 15, 2008 will bridge the gap of $1.3 million, said Peter Blachford, General Synod treasurer.

May 1, 2007 Groups issue cautions on same-sex resolutions

Less than two months before General Synod in June, the Primate’s Theological Commission, as well as one third of Canadian bishops, 25 theologians and an interest group have issued separate statements distancing themselves from resolutions dealing with the blessing of same-sex unions forwarded by the Council of General Synod (CoGS) to synod delegates for action.
