June 22, 2009 West Bank village sues developers in Montreal court

The Israeli-Palestinian dispute over land in the occupied territories has come to a Montreal courtroom this week. Lawyers for the West Bank village of Bil’in are suing developers Green Park International and Green Mount International, which are registered in Quebec, for building settlements on land that was confiscated from the village by Israel.

June 15, 2009 Bishop Ashdown elected as metropolitan of Rupert's Land

Bishop David Ashdown of the diocese of Keewatin was elected as the metropolitan (archbishop) of the Province of Rupert’s Land at the provincial synod at Holy Cross Church in Calgary on June 11. He replaces Bishop John Clarke, who retired from the position as metropolitan last July.

Supreme Court of British Columbia hearings have concluded in a case that will decide whether the Anglican diocese of New Westminister or parishes that have split away from the Anglican Church of Canada own disputed church buildings and resources.
