Anglican Journal wins 19 awards at two church press conventions

The Anglican Journal won 19 awards at two recent national and international church press conventions. The newspaper received 11 awards, including five first place awards at the Canadian Church Press (CCP) convention in Winnipeg May 14 to 16 and was honoured with eight awards at the Associated Church Press (ACP) convention in Indianapolis, Ind. May 6 to 8. The honours:

FIRST PLACE

  • General Excellence (National newspaper)
  • Editorial (Newspaper) – Former Journal editor, Leanne Larmondin, Learning lessons about the high cost of faith in Sudan, May 2008
  • In-depth treatment of a news event (Newspaper) – staff writer Marites N. Sison, 2008 Lambeth Conference, the decennial meeting of bishops in the Anglican Communion
  • Feature (Newspaper) – Former Journal editor Leanne Larmondin, Lasting peace can be elusive in battered Sudan; Corruption stunts growth of a new nation; Canadian church supports Sudan, May and June 2008
